About Laura Pilon
Laura has both an interesting and diverse educational background. Initially, she pursued and obtained her dental hygienist certification from Algonquin College. Laura then went on to pursue a B.Sc. (Honours) in Neuroscience at Carleton University. Finally, Laura attended law school at the University of Ottawa, receiving her Juris Doctor in June 2016. Her call to the Bar was in June 2017.
While Laura has been exposed to various areas of law, she has found her calling to be that of family law. She enjoys working directly with people and helping them through what often can often prove to be difficult and traumatic periods in their lives. She brings many qualities to the table, both as a litigator and a mediator—most important among them being common-sense, compassion, empathy and intelligence—qualities that are making Laura a much sought-after advocate.
Laura appreciates the benefits of a non-adversarial, settlement oriented approach to family law—both for the sake of the parting spouses, and perhaps more importantly, for the sake of their children. If need be, however, she is more than capable of assisting clients through the complexities of the court process.
Laura also has volunteered extensively with a variety of community organizations, including the Youth Service Bureau, Carleton Neuroscience Society (which she founded), OUTLaw, ACORN and the Carleton University Kayak Club.
